Senator Chris Coons had an interesting statement during the Kavanaugh hearings. He said we were a nation of pain. I think he is correct. Worse, rather than being out in the open, there is an undercurrent of pain. The #metoo movement has been a valve opening up the floodgates of pain.
Pain is better dealt with when out in the open. It should never be repressed.
In our current cultural climate, however, we seem more interested in either denying the pain or bludgeoning ones opponents with it. Very few people seem to take seriously the question, what is causing this pain and why is it hidden?
